From time to time, the Society may incur disbursements to an organization in which a director of its board or a related party may have an interest. In this case, the director declares a potential conflict of interest and refrains from participating in any related discussion or decision-making in order to avoid a conflict of interest.

During the 2017/2018 fiscal year, the Society transacted with three organizations related to one of the directors. Payments to these organizations totalled $108,129.75. The services provided included a research grant, consulting services and investment custody fees.
